A candid review of a PERFECT ring.

This ring is perfect. Let me start off by saying that, like one of the other reviews says, it is a bit darker than the picture. For those of you shopping around, like I did, Tungsten Carbide seems to come in about 3 colors; Silver, Gunmetal, and Black (each progressilvey darker). This one is the GUNMETAL color. I was happy to read the review that clarified which this ring was since gunmetal was the color I wanted.

Picture Somewhat Deceptive, But Still a Great Ring

The ring is great, don’t get me wrong, the price-point is fantastic, however my fiance and I were a little disappointed when we received it because we were expecting a WHITE tungsten ring that would match her platinum engagement band, and white gold wedding band. This ring is very sturdy, good looking and all, but it is still a darker color than we thought it would be. I will use this for my work, as I am preparing to enter into the Air Force, and it will be ideal to use this, and getting it for $15 we got it for is a steal (when compared to the prices most jewelry stores are asking for), but we were disappointed that it was darker, and not lighter as the pictures on here would lead you to believe.

NOT what I expected

I wanted to get matching wedding bands for my impending wedding and I decided to surprise my fiance with something different than the traditional metals. I saw the photo of this ring and fell in love with it. I bought two rings. I thought it would match my engagement ring but it didn’t. The pic is deceiving. The ring arrived waaay too dark, for one. It looked more like a steel ring. When I looked at the packaging, it said “Tungsten Carbide” on the box, but the little tag around the ring itself said “Tungsten Steel”. Well which one is it?! Well, guess what? I don’t care. They’re going back. If you don’t mind a dark steel looking ring, then you’ll be happy. But if you want something more on the side of silver or white gold colored, shop elsewhere. In case you’re wondering what is the difference between tungsten carbide and tungsten steel, read this:

“When tungsten is alloyed in small quantities with steel, it greatly increases its hardness and forms tungsten steel that is stable at high temperatures. Tungsten steel is one of important high speed steels. High speed steel, an alloy that combines several metals, is used in high speed applications. Tungsten and molybdenum are two general metals in the combinations. Compared with tungsten carbide, tungsten steel has better flexibility. Tungsten steel alloys are widely used for the manufacture of high speed cutting tools such as taps, dies, twist drills, reamers, and saw blades, as well as rocket engine nozzles.”

Exactly. The rings have the same surface color as a saw blade.
